The Boredom Trap: Does this ever happen to you?

There you are, sitting in a meeting, intending to be a good team member.

You’re sincerely trying to pay attention to the presenter.

But after about the 30th slide chock full of bullet points you just can’t do it!

You look down at your phone. You see a funny meme your spouse or a fellow team member sent you.

Then you start checking your email, reading your texts and checking social media. You may even open Amazon and consider purchasing things you don’t even need.

Before you know it, twenty minutes have gone by.

And then, the presenter asks a question and is looking right at you.

You have no idea what the presenter said during those twenty minutes, much less the context of the question just asked.

Now you’ve got to try to figure out what the presenter is talking about.

What if the presenter asks you for a response? What are you going to do?

The bottom line…you’re trapped in another BORING!!!!! meeting with no way out other than a sudden attack of appendicitis (not likely) or just enduring the boredom until the meeting finally ends.

Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence in routine meetings and Town Hall meetings.

And if you’re the leader of a team you want to make sure your team isn’t trapped like this (whether or not you’re the presenter).
